Darn the petrol price increase - now I can do something about it!
Petrol price has been increasing and motorists are at the mercy of oil companies. I checked some websites and found advice that it is better to top up your fuel tank in the morning when the petrol is denser. The explanation about specific gravity escapes me but the thought of being able to do something to deal with this inexorable increase gives me some comfort.I normally top up my petrol when the gauge is down to quarter level and it takes 43 to 45 litres to 'fill it up". On two recent occasions, I made deliberate trips early in the morning just to top up the tank. I found that I needed 39 litres to fill it up - a savings of about 5 litres!!
Also, driving without the aircon on can result in fuel savings of between 10 to 20%.
Since I can't do a darn thing about the price increases, at least now I know there are still couple of things that are within my control.
